“A crew of engineers in the middle of the ocean will try to fix a device that was intended to clean the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, where an estimated 1.8 trillion pieces of plastic have coalesced into a field of debris twice the size of Texas.,” writes Francesca Paris in their recent NPR article entitled “Creator Of Floating Garbage Collector Struggling To Capture Plastic In Pacific.”
According to the article, “The garbage catcher has been floating in the Pacific since its highly anticipated launch out of San Francisco in September, but it has yet to produce the results anticipated.”
“Its inventor, 24-year-old Boyan Slat, told The Associated Press the solar-powered barrier hasn't collected any loads of trash because it's moving more slowly than the plastic it's trying to capture,” explains Paris.
"Which of course you don't want, because then you have a chance of losing the plastic again,’ the Dutch innovator said in a video. ‘[We're] trying to speed up the system just enough so that it will always constantly go faster than the plastic, which is what we need."
Paris shares that “Slat and his team said they had anticipated running into issues like this one.”
"What we're trying to do has never been done before. So, of course we were expecting to still need to fix a few things before it becomes fully operational," Slat said in the piece.
We could not relate to Slat and his team anymore.
This experience something we regularly face as we help proactive leaders (like you) strive towards maximum performance.
Are you struggling to achieve maximum performance throughout your property operation?
Don’t fret; we’ve got you covered.
This situation reads Proactive Operations all over it.
And we can help!
The Struggle Is Real
Here’s the thing, you’re not alone.
Whether you’re struggling to get your operation where it needs to be, continually improving, or in a good place for optimization – all proactive leaders go through it.
You’ve got to start somewhere.
Just like Slat and his team, you’ve got to start, fail fast, and keep iterating until you achieve the level of performance you need.
But, we’ll accept that might never happen.
And that’s OK because when you strive for perfection, you will achieve excellence.
That’s pretty remarkable.
We think your customers will agree.
Over the years, we’ve worked with many experts in various industries to help them improve the efficiency and effectiveness of their operation.
We admit; we’re obsessed.
Our pursuit to understand what’s needed to help our customers achieve success will never end.
But, that OK too.
From Corporate to Transportation operations, we’ve always worked to discover ways to contribute to the success of every operational function.
For example, what are the fundamental needs of the industry? What’s important and relevant to the experts in each field? What are the collective strengths and weaknesses that they all share? What’s missing?
That’s when we had an epiphany.
Operations across every industry must move away from the reactive mindset they’ve had for years.
It’s time for a proactive approach – one that will evolve with the demands of the environment.
We’ve done just that!
Now, while our long-term relationships with industry experts have shaped Proactive Operations, it’s participation and contribution from proactive leaders like you that has ignited a movement.
With Proactive Operations and a proactive operations platform, you gain the advantage of maximizing your performance, creating memories, and keeping your customers coming back to your property.
Yes, it’s entirely different than Boyan Slat’s cool new tech that could change the world.
But, it’s a similar concept that can help you change your property operation and how your customers see you.
Keep Iterating Using the Three Pillars of Proactive Operations
Whether you’re struggling, fixing, or maximizing – keep the three pillars of Proactive Operations as your methodology for kicking butt.
