How to Achieve an Oscar-Worthy Performance (Every Day)

Written by 24/7 Software | Jan 25, 2018 12:00:00 PM

“The nominations for the 90th Academy Awards were announced Tuesday morning by a dapper, genial Andy Serkis and the always-intoxicating Tiffany Haddish,” writes Linda Holmes in their recent NPR article entitled “’Shape Of Water,' 'Dunkirk' And 'Three Billboards' Lead Oscar Nominations.”

According to Holmes, “Serkis became famous for motion-capture performances in films like The Lord Of The Rings films and the new take on Planet Of The Apes. Haddish hit big in Girls Trip this year and has earned countless admirers for being joyfully herself at every opportunity.”

“And while the nominees they announced weren't exactly unexpected given what we already knew – big showings for The Shape Of Water, Dunkirk and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri — they had enough freshness and enough room for new voices that they didn't feel rote. Agree or disagree, they didn't simply represent a full list of the films and the performances that sounded the most "Oscars-y" from the directors and writers who had been nominated before,” the article continues.

Now, make sure to read the article if you’re interested in learning some more about this year’s nominations.

But today, we’re focused on what you need to do to make your team famous.

While the Academy Awards, or best known as the Oscars, is a set of 24 awards for artistic and technical merit in the American film industry, we’re not in the film industry, are we?

But to be “Oscars-y” is notable, so why not consider doing the right things to achieve an Oscar-worthy performance every day, right?

Your customers will not only appreciate it – they’ll love it.

This article got us thinking about your operation and the ‘technical merit’ your team can surely achieve too.

Keep reading; we’re going to share how to ensure the next Oscar goes to you.

Have Oscar-Worthy Focus on Your Process

Actors, Directors, and the many professionals that make up a film have an intense focus on their practice.

They’re committed to creating the best ‘product.’

Yes, much of the success is from talent, but probably not all of it.

Agree?

Delivering an “Oscars-y” film to the public requires a process – it doesn’t just happen.

Now, we’re no experts in film, but we’re confident there are necessary steps to completion: funding, casting, hiring a film crew, and everything else involved in the film development process.

Your operation is no different.

We’re also confident you agree with that!

You have a property and customers, which means you’ve got to deliver the best service.

This service includes safety, security, experience, efficiency, effectiveness, and all other qualities associated with world-class service.

How are you accomplishing this? How are you achieving an Oscar-worthy performance every day?

Not sure?

Here’s how: Proactive Operations.

It’s the go-to methodology you should be using to ensure your process is always Oscar-worthy.

But, it’s also a lot more than focusing on your process.

You must pay attention to everything involved and affected because an expertly designed and executed process covers many aspects of your operation.

Use the Proactive Operations methodology to maximize your property operation’s performance through strategy, infrastructure, and technology.

Then, practice, practice and practice some more to nail that performance.

Proactive Operations Never Stop Improving

You’ve got to work on your skills continuously.

That’s how anyone in any profession becomes successful.

Never stop learning and improving.

Do you want your team to deliver top-notch service and safety to customers?

Of course!

Proactive operations know this and work regularly to ensure their operation is one of the most efficient and effective in the world.

Are you doing the same?

If not, it’s time to get your team together to perform some tabletop exercises and real-life role-playing to achieve the performance you need.

Yes, they get to act now too!

Here’s why you want to conduct tabletop exercises but also take it beyond that with real-life scenarios:

  • Creates accountability throughout the team
  • Staff feels valued through their participation and contribution
  • Challenges staff to improve their execution
  • Builds staff confidence by running through various scenarios
  • Solutions to complex situations are discovered from testing and repetition
  • Enhanced awareness is the result of training staff to expect the unexpected
  • Skyrockets productivity because everyone knows what is expected of them and how they should perform duties
  • You’ll be seen as the Oscar-worthy leader you are because you’ve taken the time to improve and optimize your operation

The value associated with this is endless.

Do you see it?

Great, let’s not waste any more time getting your operation to where it needs to be.

“And the Oscar goes to…”

Over to You

While you’re not working on your next breakthrough film performance, delivering an “Oscar-worthy” performance for your customers is proof of how much you care.

Using Proactive Operations to produce a process that results in maximizing performance should be your primary vehicle for achievement. But remember, never stop improving and optimizing it – every day.

So, have you evaluated the performance of your operation lately?
